Work

Role: Art Director
I led creative brainstorms and worked with the People and Workplace team to identify what’s possible. This was my passion project at Airtable that I worked during project downtimes.

Programs: C4D, Redshift, Illustrator, paper
Created at Airtable.

Airtable Culture

My favorite part at Airtable was the wonderful people I got to meet. I absolutely loved our team and other cross-functional partners. But as any tech company during the time of layoffs, the culture wasn’t the same.

What’s the culture that our company is looking to go for?
And how could I use art to bring joy to that culture?

Airtable Values

These are Airtable’s four core values that guides the company’s shared understanding of what good looks like as a company and in our individual growth.

But these definitely needed a refresh in visuals!
Using Airtable shapes and color, I created iconic characters that represented these core values.

These became workplace emojis, stickers, trophies, and more!

Values Award

To recognize the amazing individuals at Airtable, the People Team created a new system where we could nominate coworkers who embodied any of the Airtable values. We would celebrate the winners at All Hands with prizes.

Here are some celebratory visuals for the company All Hands for the drumroll moments when we announced the winners!

    Values Award Trophy

My favorite part of the process creating and leading brainstorms with the team!

We had a lot of hilarious and ingenius ideas that leaned on making the Values Award a big moment that brought teams and together with laughter - like a giant check!
Or ideas that truly celebrated the indiviudals - custom Lego characters or Pokemon cards.
Or creating an art piece, like a 3D printed sculpture with epoxy resin around it.
Or leaning into the “building” aspect of our brand - like a custom Lego trophy or tangram puzzles.

Through the process, I worked closely with the People team - asking, how winners should feel when they receive the award? What’s appropriate for our culture? We also looked at our ideas through logistics on what’s possible and scalable for creating awards every quarter.

We agreed that the Values Awards is really about the individuals and celebrating them. We decided to go with custom Pokemon cards for the winners.

We took kind words that their nominees shared and turned them as their power moves! The winners felt appreciated and had a trophy that was super personal to their achievements and impact at Airtable.

To real trophies in iridescent plaques!

      Stickers

Of course, we printed out stickers for everyone!

Unrelated to the Values Awards, but free branded tote always brings joy.

          Airtable Mascot

Airtable’s Finance & Legal team also has a handmade plush that is sent to one teammate at a time. I refreshed the digital design to reflect his friendly personality.
